Isa Luzarraga, Editor-in-Chief

Isa (she/her/hers) is extremely excited to take on the role of Editor-in-chief of The Hoofbeat this year. This will be her fourth year on newspaper, and every day in the newsroom has become bittersweet, knowing she will be graduating and leaving the paper behind. This summer, Isa was accepted into Northwestern University’s Medill Journalism Institute. While the program ended up going virtual, Isa spent four weeks diving into all facets of journalism. She is beyond excited to introduce a new ethics code as well as a diversity/inclusion agreement to the journalism program this year. When not editing her college applications on her computer, Isa runs varsity cross country, participates in forensics, is the Vice-President of Spanish Honors Society, and a member of the National Honors Society. Let’s just say she is a constant state of exhaustion, but she loves everything that she does. The talent of this year’s staff inspires Isa to become a better leader everyday. She hopes to one day become a magazine editor and live on the East Coast with a pomsky named Pepper.
